When installing an update or patch that requires a reboot, is it possible that when you push out the patch you can tell the machine not to reboot?  For example, when pushing out IE 6.0 that requires a reboot.  I would like to be able to push it out during the day and not have to worry about the machine rebooting in the middle of someone's work.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Joe

Hi Joe,

When installing any patch using Prism Patch Manager, you are given the option to remove/add any switch that Microsoft provides with the patch.  On a few occasions, the reboot option is part of the install and must be completed in order to complete the install (reboot option will be greyed out).

In other cases, you can un-select the reboot option and the machine will not reboot until you manually reboot it.  Keep in mind, some patches will not be successful or completed until the reboot has taken place.

Thanks!
