Is Prism Patch Manager able to install .reg files or do they have to be .exe?

Thanks

C. I am having trouble getting the installation to run.

I can manage and then query the machine without any trouble, then I can download the patch and schedule the installation without any problem. But then, the installation just stops. I check the deployment status and the status shows Pending and it never goes anywhere. I have tried it on multiple machines and have had no luck.

These machines do not have a leaf agent installed. Do I need to install that before I can finalize this installation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gabriel Raffaelli, IT Admin Trucker Huss, APC

What happens if Prism misses an update time?

If a machine is off, what does prism do about scheduled updates?

How many updates at a time are recommended?

I understand that the amount of data a computer can push and download is depended on it's speed and the network speed, but I find that when trying to update a machine with several dozen updates causes Prism to fail, and that updating several dozen machines with a relatively few number of updates causes Prism to fail. The reason I ask is that we need to have the leaf agents on every client that already has Deploy on it.

Normally i'd be happy installing it on an AD logon script but we need to be more granular on who gets the patches so it can't be everyone at once - if you get what i mean.

Any ideas most welcome

David

Unwanted patches selected as required

I started this question in the 'New Features' forum when I originally suspected that the 'required patches' was related to the KBArticle field. I now find that is not the case.

Why is it that when I select a certain patch as required, that other unrelated patches become selected as required?

For example: If I select Sun Solaris 9 patch 112912-01 (libinetcfg Patch - RepID 1A62) as required, then Sun Solaris 9 patch 113273-07 (/usr/lib/ssh/sshd Patch - RepID 1A14) also becomes selected.

Another example: If I select Windows patch KB832414_MSXML4.0_X86.exe (RepID 12BB) as required, then Windows patch KB832414_MSXML2.6_X86.exe (RepID 12BC) also becomes selected. (I didn't want you to think I was picking on the Solaris patching )

Why are these other unwanted patches being selected?

Moving Master Agent to another server

What is the proper method to move our exisiting Master Agent data to another server. I tried to restart my test machine through prism patch manager and it did not restart, in fact it restarted a different machine in the office. I tried alert messages and they go to the wrong computer as well. I have checked active directory IP/computer name and everthing is showing correctly. I can ping computers by computer name and recieve the correct IP, but patch manager has this computer mapped incorrectly.
