Hi,

You can get information from the event log using VBScript and write that to a INI file, then build a rule to check the INI file created.

The more and more I dig into Deploy, the more I think this would be a killer feature to added. The thought of being able to query the event logs for specifc messages in a specified time period and then have a certain task assigned to those with those error just makes smile..

By default the Event Logs are stored in binary files in %SystemRoot%\System32\Config. Prism cannot parse those files so it is not currently possible to create Configuration Groups based on data that is contained within files of that type. This has been added as a feature request, thanks for the suggestion.

Any good ideas for assigning a task based upon a certain event description within the Event Log in Windows?

I have some machines that need a registry hack and the only way to know which ones do is check the event log for a specific id and desscription. At this point, I don't have any event log monitoring in place for desktops.

It may be a neat feature for future versions if you could create configuration groups based upon criteria in an event log.
