I am using Prism Suite Version 8.0.

I am trying to create a customized pwi picture file to capture a users printer setup.

I have created a file called StateCopy.pwi that captures various settings for a client (e.g. Lotus Notes names.nsf file, normal.dot template file for Microsoft Word, etc).

One of the new folders with version 8.0 is something called "Printers and Faxes" when you are in the dialog box "Select the Information you wish to store".

In that dialog box, I have chosen Desktop (Computer), Favorites, and Quick Launch.

I noticed the entry for Printers and Faxes. I added this to my StateCopy.pwi file and ran the ptclient program with my pwi file to capture a package for a user.

The Desktop, Favorites, and Quick Launch worked fine - captured the correct entries.

This client does have various printers installed. However the Printer and Faxes folder in my package is "empty" - it did not capture what I thought it would - ie the printers associated with this user.

Am I missing something or should I be looking elsewhere to capture the printer, fax setups?

The Printers and Faxes shortcut points to the C:\Documents and Settings\\PrintHood folder. That folder is most likely empty on the machine that you are using the *.pwi on.

If you want to actually capture a printer or fax installation, your picture needs to contain much more information. Windows puts drivers in the System directory as well as settings into the SOFTWARE and SYSTEM branches of HKLM and Printers and Software branches of HKCU. Your picture would have to contain those items as a minimum.
